Premier Lorne Calvert was met by hundreds of supporters at a post-debate victory party this Halloween morning, where he reminded voters that Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party are no more than wolves in sheep’s clothing.
“It’s time for Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party to show Saskatchewan people what’s under the mask,” Calvert said. “This party has a full bag of tricks, but the only people that will get treats are his hand-picked group of friends, like those on the Enterprise Saskatchewan Privatization board.”
Calvert said Saskatchewan’s diversified economy is booming, there are more quality jobs in our province than ever before, and our business climate is competitive, but Brad Wall continues to want to follow Alberta, refusing to admit that Saskatchewan can be a leader in Canada.
“The only people who don’t seem to know that great things are happening in this province are Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party, which is bad enough. What's even worse is that Mr. Wall takes his gloom and doom message on the road to Alberta to scare off would-be investors. Is that a sign of leadership? I think not.
“Brad Wall consistently cites unreliable statistics from the Fraser Institute to undermine the public’s confidence in our public health-care system, but neglects to mention that this organization supports private-for-profit health care. Not surprisingly, many of Brad Wall’s candidates do as well. Do the citizens of Saskatchewan really want to put our public health care system at risk? I think not.”
Calvert said under a Saskatchewan Party government, Saskatchewan residents would lose:
- Students would lose a $1,000 tuition cut;
- Families would lose affordable prescriptions;
- Everyone will lose their low-cost utility bundle;
- Renters will lose an average of $500 in property tax relief; and
- Everyone will risk higher costs through the privatization of the Crowns.
“The ghost of Tories past has joined us in this election campaign. My government, together with the hard-working families and businesses of this province, has worked hard to take Saskatchewan from near bankruptcy to boom. Do we really want to go backwards, to the days of privatization and cuts, this time with Brad Wall at the helm? I say no.
“A vote for the NDP on November 7 is a vote for the party that will continue to take this province forward, as a leader in Canada.”
