SYND is getting geared up for a busy fall!

In July the SYND elected a new executive for 2007-08 in Wynyard at their 2007 SYND Annual Convention. The new executive is excited about a busy year and has begun organizing some events for the fall and planning for the upcoming election.

The executive is getting ready for the start of the school year and is looking forward to working with the campus clubs and high school clubs to get even more new great young people involved in the NDP.

Who We Are

The Saskatchewan Young New Democrats are the youth wing of the Saskatchewan NDP. Our members consist of all Saskatchewan New Democratic Party members 13 to 25 years old. We are a diverse group made up of university students, high school students, working people, young socialists and young activists. Our goal, as the SYND, is to create innovative ways to interest young people in participating in the NDP and to collectively exercise our voices within the party and within the Saskatchewan political arena.

The SYND is a wing of the provincial party, which operates much like the senior party. We have an elected executive that meets on a regular basis, our members are members of the provincial NDP and we have an annual convention where we formulate policies surrounding issues that reflect our concerns.

The SYND consists to give Saskatchewan NDP members between the ages of 13 and 25 a chance to exercise their collective voice as they have concerns and interests that are sometimes very different from those of members of the senior party. This wing allows the youth of Saskatchewan a forum to exercise their ideas and actions. From education, to election experience, to experience on how to operate an executive youth gain a great deal of experience from being involved in the SYND.

The SYND puts on several functions each year which require extensive planning and organization. The main annual event is the SYND convention. As well as planning functions the SYND are a group of young activists and mobilize around issues that they feel strongly about. The SYND organizes campaigns around issues and works together to make sure that their collective voice is added to the debate.

We are the SYND, and we believe that kindred spirits, music and good conversation are an important step in building a Saskatchewan, of which we can all be proud.
